NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y.  – April 12, 2021 – Shannon Global Energy Solutions has received a Platinum Safety Award for registering a safety score of 96.5 percent in the Safety Assessment Program administered by Lexington, Mass.-based ConstructSecure, Inc., a cloud-based mobile platform that empowers clients to make smarter risk management decisions. Shannon GES engineers and manufactures reusable solutions for a sustainable planet. ConstructSecure presents the Platinum Safety Award to companies that register a safety score of 95 percent or greater after completing the assessment.

“Platinum status is not easily achieved. Shannon Global Energy Solutions has demonstrated a remarkable commitment to implementing safety management systems resulting in exceptionally low incident rates,” states Garrett Burke, CEO of ConstructSecure.

The Safety Assessment Program reviews a company’s historic safety performance and current safety management systems including injuries, OSHA experience, safety management systems, safety programs and the thoroughness of its safety manuals and documentation. The ConstructSecure platform then normalizes data for the vendor or contractor size and type of work the organization performs. According to ConstructSecure, the results provide a strong indicator of how a vendor or contractor values safety and a reliable predictor of future performance.

“Shannon has placed safety at the forefront of its initiatives. Our employees’ conscientiousness and safety manager Steve Kovacs’ thorough, hard work and dedication earned this Platinum Safety Award for Shannon,” adds Joe Lauria, chief operations officer for Shannon. “Steve has a passion for this type of work and brings a wealth of experience inspecting workplaces for hazards, recommending solutions, and putting in place policies and procedures that Shannon’s team follows to protect themselves and others.”

Kovacs’ resume includes 14 years of providing occupational and explosives safety experience along with a successful 39-year military career. Since joining Shannon in 2016 as its safety manager, Kovacs has promoted workplace safety and voluntary compliance with OSHA standards, which the New York State Department of Labor recognized with a certificate of appreciation. Before that, Kovacs served as a decorated U.S. Air Force noncommissioned officer, including participation in Operation Enduring Freedom and the Global War on Terrorism, where his work involved maintaining weapons systems and later managing safety and occupational health.
